Reducing the carbon footprint and maximising the remediation potential of a site is becoming increasingly important as industries move towards achieving global climate change targets.

Government legislation and incentives now favour on–site remediation methods, opposed to the traditional dig and dump approach. The introduction of the landfill tax escalator means that developers have to look for alternative solutions as landfill disposal for active waste is often not financially viable.

We’re keen to play our part, and in doing so we have refined and adapted the techniques required to stabilise and solidify contaminated land, and slurry material helping both our clients and our business to play our part in positive global climate change.

We can segregate, screen and then ‘lock up’ contaminated soils using various binders/processing methods. We hold a Mobile Plant Permit issued by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for operation of our own screening, crushing and soil-washing equipment. In addition we hold a full waste management license for the treatment of contaminated soils and sludges.

Almost all soils found on-site can be improved for bulk-fill applications in order to build roads, embankments, reinforced earth structures, railways, housings and industrial units. So using our remediation technique, we can minimise the need to export or import new materials and this reduces the need for off-site disposal.

Our remediation process renders the identified contaminants immobile and virtually unleachable, which removes pathways between contaminates and potential receptors. The remediated soils offer enhanced engineering properties that are suitable for structural fill and create a truly holistic approach to remediation.
