Alloa Groundworks

Project description:

Our civil engineering division has completed the groundworks associated with the construction of 53 new two storey homes in Alloa.   Until this project, our five year involvement with Taylor Wimpey had seen us undertake only large earthworks contracts, however Alloa has provided us with a great opportunity to showcase the diversity of our expertise by undertaking our first groundworks contract for residential housing.

We were engaged at the early stages of the development for our specialist ground engineering works due to the very poor ground conditions.  Our early knowledge and insight into the challenges of the site provided us with a deep knowledge base to continue to assist Taylor Wimpey through to the groundworks phase of the development.   This work involved the use of our deep soil mixing and soil stabilisation techniques to control excess settlement which had occurred below roads and drainage.

Our civil engineering division was then deployed, and their works included the completion of the main drainage and roads, as well as the plotworks for 24 of the new houses. Their programme of activity included concrete works, hard landscaping, drainage and service installation.

This project has allowed us to use our expertise to deliver an innovative ground engineering solution at the outset of this project, that in turn has enabled us to cost-effectively complete the project where we had played such a major role in the initial stages.
