WORKS

Our soil mixing team has completed the in-situ soil mixed formation over the footprint of a proposed bund area to facilitate the construction of storage silos. The soils encountered on this project were a combination of made ground and soft to firm silts.

Cementitious grout was mixed into the existing materials down to the firm to stiff layer (circa 5m).

Uncharted obstructions were encountered during the working platform preparation works. We digitally recorded the position of the obstructions, and added the information to the design model, which allowed our operative to locate and work around without causing any damage to the mixing head.

Our efficient operation allowed the completion of this project in just 7 days, which included 2 days to set up and 2 days to demobilise from site, to minimise disruption to the works within the Harbour facilities.

KEY PROJECT CHALLENGES

  • Access into the area of works through the Aberdeen Harbour facilities.
  • Only a small area was available to set up the batching plant.
  • Uncharted obstructions.
