WORKS

Our soil mixing team has completed the in-situ soil formation over the footprint of a car park to form a stable and competent subgrade prior to the installation of the road make-up. Cementious grout was mixed into the soil to depths sufficient to mix the various made ground and underlying organic peat. This project gave us the opportunity to introduce our Doosan DX530 for the mixing operations that were required. The Doosan allowed us to increase our production output by 15% with the additional power it can deliver to the mixing head. By increasing our production efficiency, we completed the project one week ahead of the original programme.

KEY PROJECT CHALLENGES

  • Access into the area of works through the treatment area was planned carefully to ensure deliveries for the operations were maintained.
  • Soil mixing operations were completed in tandem with the grouting operations and the civils contractor for the project, giving our team logistical challenges to overcome.
  • The proximity of a local school placed site restrictions around cement deliveries, which required essential planning to ensure this was carried out smoothly and to the highest health and safety standards.
