We’ve established an environmental partnership with Oilfast in Motherwell. This partnership has seen Oilfast plant an impressive 337 new trees across Scotland on our behalf. And it is part of their scheme to reduce the overall carbon footprint that using gas oil creates for the environment.
It’s an easy way for the company to play its role in making Scotland a greener place to live, work and play. Office Manager Leonie Matos adds: “We’re very aware of maintaining our green credentials. Furthermore, we’re absolutely delighted that our partnership with Oilfast over the last 12 months because it has resulted in so many trees being planted. It’s great to know that it goes some way to off-setting our carbon footprint as a business.”
Oilfast is our supplier of the gas oil. We use gas oil in order to keep our plant machinery fleet working to its maximum capacity. During the last 12 months that we’ve been working with Oilfast, they delivered an incredible 370,700 litres of gas oil to our sites right across the UK.
Since 2013, Oilfast has planted one tree in Scotland for every delivery of 1100 litres or more of domestic heating oil. Because of the success of the scheme, it is now rolling out to commercial customers who buy gas oil.
The trees which have grown in size and as a result The Oilfast Forest has been established in Laudale, Morvern Peninsula on Scotland’s West Coast. The Oilfast Forest is managed by Scottish Woodlands and it is part of a long-term Forest Management Plan.
Managing Director for Oilfast Stephen Anderson said: “Oilfast is committed to the environment, to sustainable development and to responsible operations. The tree planting is just one of the measures that we use so we can offset the impact that our operations have, as well as the fuel we supply.”
